This is very important for those with IBD/IBS/Crohns as sufferers can be at a higher risk for cancer. Specifically Colorectal Cancer. However, there are proactive steps one can take. The lifetime risk of developing Colorectal Cancer is about 1 in 20 (5%). This risk is slightly lower in women than in men. Colorectal Cancer is the third leading cause of cancer related deaths in the United States when men and women are considered separately.
When my guidebook is published it will contain Anti-Cancer remedies that I take. These remedies are also available through the consult with me if you desire. As I always like to mention, the information I have found is free to anyone who puts in the time and effort to research. If you don't want to re-invent the wheel searching long hours on your own contact me. I am providing you one of the remedy though right now as a starter: Coconut Oil. Few studies which have been published but not publicized are in progress to show the coconut oil's medicinal properties. One of the studies that you have probably to heard about involves cancer research. This study was conducted by Australian researchers and it was published in the Chemotherapy journal in January 2015 under "experimental chemotherapy". This study was an in vitro study on human colon or colorectal cancer cells. The researchers of this study were more concerned about finding a good add on for the chemotherapy than finding another solution. In their study the researchers compared the effect of butyrate, a short chain fatty acid or SCFA, which is derived from the fermentation in the gut to lauric acid, a medium chain fatty acid or MCFA. You can find MCFA in palm and coconut oil. Almost 50% of MCFA palm or coconut oil is auric acid. Lauric acid has shown great results in promoting oxidative stress and apoptosis in colon cancer cells and killing them over 90% in just a few hours. You should always remember this Dear Reader - cancer cells can't handle oxygen. So this is a reason to include coconut oil in your daily diet. Another thing to remember about cancer cells is they love sugar. So start reducing your sugar intake in your diet as well. Blessings and Peace!

I am bringing up Shingles as a topic. Why? Because certain diseases (one of which is the main focal point of this site - IBD/IBS/Crohns) are likely a trigger that will make it more likely to activate. In addition some of the Immunosuppressant drugs used in some cases to treat IBS/IBS/Crohns can increase ones risk for getting Shingles. A study published in the journal Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases showed some evidence that rheumatoid arthritis ("RA") patients who were on immune-system-suppressing drugs like Humira and Enbrel had a higher rate of developing shingles than other RA patients.
Likewise, cancer patients going through chemotherapy or radiation also experience weakened immune systems and are at a higher risk for shingles. So what is Shingles? Shingles (or the herpes zoster virus) is an outbreak of painful redness and blisters. Herpes zoster develops from the chickenpox virus. So if you had chickenpox as a kid, that virus never left you. Some of the virus lies dormant in the nerves along your spinal column. The chances of contracting Shingles increases with age. If the virus comes out of dormancy, it can trigger excruciating blisters and redness on one side of the body. Typically it presents in a band along the torso, but it can occur anywhere. 20% of shingles cases are in the eye (this is called herpes zoster ophthalmic) and can lead to blindness. Although I am not normally a fan of vaccines, but in this case if someone is over 50, consider the shingles vaccine. It clearly cuts down both the pain and the actual occurrence of the disease. In a large, five-and-a-half year study of 38,500 men and women across 22 sites in the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs system, the vaccine was found safe compared with a placebo. |
